Otto's Challenge

My Challenge :

For 17 months Laurie Engel endured horrible treatment for his aggressive cancer.

My challenge to myself was to spend 17 months working to help teenagers like Laurie with cancer.
I have two goals:

  • to raise awareness of teenage cancer &
  • to raise funds to help teenagers with cancer.

My challenge to you is to get involved.

Laurie’s life has made a difference. The fund set up in Laurie’s name has already raised over £750,000. But each Teenage Cancer Trust unit costs about £2million. Many more units are needed in this country.

My original challenge was to swimming clubs – to join me in fundraising & match the amount I raised in the first 6 weeks (£1000) by September 2007. I also issued a challenge to individuals to raise £100 by September 2007.

So… are there prizes?

Yes! I have brilliant supporters who are donating prizes for me to give to those who raise most funds, for those who show they have made most effort and for those who have raised funds in the most original way.

These prizes include items signed by many GB swimmers and include a large framed set of skins signed by Commonwealth swimmers. I also have items signed by world champions in Texas and Marseille.(no prizes for guessing who!)

Teenagers with cancer have a 15% better chance of survival when treated in a Teenage Cancer trust Unit.
